Terms of Service
The Linked Bible
Effective date: July 2, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and The Linked Bible, LLC ("we," "us") covering your use of The Linked Bible app. By using the app, you agree to them. We have kept them as short and plain as we can.
1. The app
The Linked Bible is a free Bible reading and study app that also hosts church community spaces. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use it on devices you own. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time, and we will not be liable if any part of the app is unavailable.
2. Your account
You do not need an account to read and study. If you create one (by signing in with Apple or Google), you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings.
3. Bible text and licensed content
- The World English Bible (WEB) and other public domain translations are in the public domain.
- Licensed translations (such as NIV, NKJV, NLT, CSB, NIrV, and NASB) are copyrighted by their publishers and provided under license through American Bible Society's API.Bible. Audio Bibles are provided under license from Faith Comes By Hearing. You may read, listen to, and share verses from these translations within the app's features, but you may not extract, copy at scale, redistribute, or resell licensed translation text or audio. Copyright notices shown with the text are part of the license and must remain.
- Study content, commentary presentation, book overviews, maps, guides, and the app's design are owned by us or our licensors. Historical commentaries and library texts that are in the public domain remain in the public domain; our formatting, curation, and presentation of them are ours.
- The Linked Bible name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without our written permission.
4. Church communities
Churches can create branded community spaces inside the app. When you connect to a church's space:
- Churches are independent organizations. They are not owned by, affiliated with, or agents of The Linked Bible, LLC. We provide the software; the church provides its content, community, and ministry.
- We are not responsible for church content. Sermons, announcements, messages, events, and other material in a church's space come from that church. We do not review or endorse it, and any views expressed are the church's, not ours.
- Your relationship with your church is your own. Disputes about a church's content, conduct, or use of donations are between you and the church.
- Connecting shares information with the church, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect at any time.
We may remove a church or its content from the platform if it violates these terms or the law.
5. Giving
If your church has enabled giving:
- Donations are made to your church, not to us. Payments are processed by a dedicated third-party payment processor under its own terms, and funds go directly to the church; we never hold your gift.
- Fees are shown before you give. Any processing fees (and the option to cover them for your church, where offered) appear on the giving screen before you confirm.
- Your church is responsible for how donations are used, for issuing giving statements, and for its own tax-exempt status. We do not guarantee that any donation is tax-deductible; confirm that with your church.
- Refunds and errors. If you made a gift in error, contact your church, and copy us at Support@thelinkedbible.com if you need help reaching them. We will assist in good faith but cannot reverse a completed donation without the church.
- You agree to only use giving features with payment methods you are authorized to use.
6. Your content
Highlights, notes, and bookmarks remain yours. If you post or share content into a church community space (comments, prayer requests, or similar features, where available), you grant us the license needed to store, display, and transmit that content to the people you shared it with, and you agree it will not be unlawful, infringing, abusive, or harassing. We may remove content that violates these terms, but we do not review everything posted and are not responsible for what users or churches post. If you send us information through the app (for example, recommending the app to your church with the consent toggle on), you give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- copy, scrape, or bulk-download licensed Bible text or audio;
- reverse engineer the app, probe or disrupt its servers, or circumvent its usage limits or security;
- use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the app;
- impersonate any person, church, or organization, or create a church space for an organization you do not represent;
- use the app to harass, defraud, or harm others, or in any unlawful way.
We may suspend accounts or access to online features for violations of these terms.
8. Study content, not professional advice
The app's historical notes, maps, evidence cards, and study materials are provided for education and study. We work hard to make them accurate, but we do not guarantee that every historical or scholarly detail is free of error.
9. The app is provided "as is"
The app and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise the app will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Online features depend on our content and payment partners and may change.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, or for the acts, content, or omissions of any church or other user. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of fifty US dollars (USD $50) or the amount you paid us (not your church) in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
If your violation of these terms, your content, or your unlawful use of the app causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to indemnify us for the resulting damages and reasonable legal costs.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles. It is part of these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
15. Waiver, severability, and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure by us to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the app. Churches that operate a community space are additionally bound by our Church Platform Agreement.
